Our Relationship With
We started with One. One little girl diagnosed with cancer. One family needing support. One doctor that felt it necessary. One community that rallied together. One team and organization that partnered to see it through.
We wouldn't be here without them or without you.
The first Ronald McDonald House of the Central Valley opened on Millbrook Ave. in 1984. We were the fourth Ronald McDonald House to open their doors in California. Our first Ronald McDonald House was a 7 room facility. The facility was started with a great deal of excitement and support from the local community and partnership with Valley Children’s Hospital. As the surrounding area grew, so did the need for the hospital to expand. When they moved to a new location about 20 minutes away, we followed. On February 14, 2001, we expanded to an 18 bedroom Ronald McDonald House located adjacent to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera, CA.
The new Ronald McDonald House is comprised of three wings with private bedrooms and bathrooms with ample storage for long stays. Each wing is equipped with it's own laundry room, kitchen, and dining area. The kitchens are fully equipped with a stocked pantry and private refrigerators for each guest room. We also have playroom for siblings, a large communal living area, outdoor dining areas, play areas, and some spaces for quiet moments.
Serving more families than ever before.
Growth has been our middle name since our start. We have created several other special programs that help make our House a Home. In 2013, we opened our Day Room Service, which gave our wait-listed families short-term accommodations. We are always growing thanks to our tireless volunteers, generous donors and committed staff to ensure we are able to serve our families.
In 2017, we started a "Hotels from the Heart" program. We unfortunately have to turn away hundreds of families each year because we are at maximum occupancy every night. To reduce the number of turned away families, we've partnered with local hotels who offer us a discounted rate. Through this partnership and sponsors, we were able to serve an additional 79 families in 2018 alone.
Each year hundreds of families stay at the Ronald McDonald House of the Central Valley. We rely solely on the generosity of the community to provide for our families and the opportunity to continue to expand our services to those when they need it the most. We could not do it without your continual dedication and support!
